Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Materials and Clean Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were MAG Silver Corp . (TO:MAG), which rose 6.73% or 0.86 points to trade at 13.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN) added 6.68% or 0.33 points to end at 5.27 and Centerra Gold Inc (TO:CG) was up 5.06% or 0.33 points to 6.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Teck Resources Ltd B (TO:TECKb), which fell 6.37% or 2.32 points to trade at 34.10 at the close. Yamana Gold Inc (TO:YRI) declined 5.88% or 0.21 points to end at 3.36 and Paramount Resources Ltd . (TO:POU) was down 3.87% or 0.65 points to 16.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 605 to 468 and 145 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.75% to 13.41 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1323.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.08% or 0.67 to hit $61.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.52 to trade at $64.97 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.19% to 0.7786, while CAD/EUR fell 0.52% to 0.6310.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 89.88.
