Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 6.71% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 2.90% or 0.89 points to end at 31.63 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 2.13% or 1.49 points to 71.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which fell 5.30% or 0.59 points to trade at 10.55 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 5.09% or 0.28 points to end at 5.22 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 4.48% or 0.35 points to 7.47.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 231 to 134 and 42 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.48% to 24.64 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.65% or 8.09 to $1260.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.69% or 0.81 to hit $48.70 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.87% or 3.75 to trade at $134.47 .
USD/BRL was down 0.98% to 3.1415, while EUR/BRL fell 0.34% to 3.6829.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 93.36.
