Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.82% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 3.72% or 0.62 points to trade at 17.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.08% or 1.03 points to end at 50.52 and Marcopolo SA (SA:POMO4) was up 1.49% or 0.03 points to 2.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which fell 7.49% or 0.35 points to trade at 4.32 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 6.17% or 1.21 points to end at 18.41 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 5.74% or 0.19 points to 3.12.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 211 to 93 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) fell to all time lows; down 7.49% or 0.35 to 4.32. Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to all time highs; up 2.08% or 1.03 to 50.52. Shares in Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.17% or 1.21 to 18.41. Shares in Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.74% or 0.19 to 3.12.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.60% to 40.05.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.30 to $1133.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $40.94 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 3.23% or 4.50 to trade at $134.62 .
USD/BRL was up 0.55% to 3.4860, while EUR/BRL rose 1.50% to 3.8795.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.44.
