Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.41% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3), which rose 4.22% or 4.44 points to trade at 109.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) added 3.73% or 0.53 points to end at 14.74 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) was up 2.27% or 0.54 points to 24.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3), which fell 5.94% or 3.24 points to trade at 51.34 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.01% or 0.74 points to end at 17.71 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 3.35% or 1.01 points to 29.14.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 283 to 171 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.94% or 3.24 to 51.34.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.82% to 31.41.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1292.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.67% or 1.19 to hit $72.56 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.66% or 1.96 to trade at $120.08 .
USD/BRL was down 1.47% to 3.6814, while EUR/BRL fell 1.32% to 4.3401.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.45.
