Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 3.48% or 0.58 points to trade at 17.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 2.65% or 1.41 points to end at 54.71 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 2.44% or 0.46 points to 19.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which fell 9.75% or 1.55 points to trade at 14.35 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 7.41% or 1.85 points to end at 23.12 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was down 6.92% or 3.06 points to 41.16.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 228 to 172 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 9.75% or 1.55 to 14.35. Shares in Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) rose to all time highs; rising 2.65% or 1.41 to 54.71. Shares in Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.92% or 3.06 to 41.16.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.67% to 32.18.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1223.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.00% or 1.40 to hit $68.73 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.22% or 1.36 to trade at $109.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.59% to 3.7532, while EUR/BRL rose 0.54% to 4.3908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 94.27.
