Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Light SA (SA:LIGT3), which rose 2.13% or 0.33 points to trade at 15.80 at the close. Meanwhile, PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3) added 2.04% or 0.010 points to end at 0.490 and Marcopolo SA (SA:POMO4) was up 1.92% or 0.05 points to 2.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 7.15% or 0.47 points to trade at 6.10 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 4.81% or 1.24 points to end at 24.55 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 4.20% or 0.23 points to 5.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 164 to 106 and 4 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.34% to 34.02.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.52% or 6.20 to $1204.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.17% or 0.67 to hit $56.05 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.36% or 0.50 to trade at $139.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.54% to 3.0371, while EUR/BRL rose 0.93% to 3.2827.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 97.61.
