Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 3.65% or 0.79 points to trade at 22.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 3.52% or 0.90 points to end at 26.45 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 2.33% or 1.21 points to 53.07 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 5.01% or 1.55 points to trade at 29.40 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.46% or 0.45 points to end at 9.65 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 4.12% or 0.78 points to 18.15.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 255 to 139 and 49 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.15% to 29.97.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.73 to $1283.23 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.86 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.62% or 0.77 to trade at $124.40 .
USD/BRL was up 0.00% to 3.2380, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 3.8043.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 93.72.
