Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 2.77% or 0.30 points to trade at 11.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 2.08% or 0.78 points to end at 38.30 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 0.96% or 0.15 points to 15.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 12.45% or 1.17 points to trade at 8.23 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 5.92% or 1.80 points to end at 28.60 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 5.07% or 0.28 points to 5.24.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 302 to 115 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.77% or 0.30 to 11.14. Shares in Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.08% or 0.78 to 38.30.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.38% to 31.38 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.21% or 15.75 to $1313.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.88% or 1.46 to hit $52.12 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.04% or 2.75 to trade at $131.82 .
USD/BRL was up 1.08% to 3.1588, while EUR/BRL rose 0.20% to 3.7417.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 92.46.
