Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption, Real Estate and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which rose 3.63% or 0.16 points to trade at 4.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3) added 3.57% or 2.07 points to end at 60.13 and Bradespar SA (BVMF:BRAP4) was up 1.37% or 0.22 points to 16.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3), which fell 8.07% or 2.02 points to trade at 23.00 at the close. BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3) declined 6.96% or 1.68 points to end at 22.47 and LWSA SA (BVMF:LWSA3) was down 6.87% or 0.23 points to 3.12.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 506 to 427 and 69 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.07% or 2.02 to 23.00. Shares in Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3) rose to all time highs; up 3.57% or 2.07 to 60.13. Shares in LWSA SA (BVMF:LWSA3) fell to 3-years lows; losing 6.87% or 0.23 to 3.12.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.47% to 29.31.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.01% or 27.50 to $2,745.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.14% or 0.90 to hit $77.81 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.03% or 3.40 to trade at $327.05 .
USD/BRL was up 0.74% to 6.05, while EUR/BRL rose 0.81% to 6.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 108.81.
