Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were B2W Cia Digital (SA:BTOW3), which rose 4.06% or 1.49 points to trade at 38.15 at the close. Meanwhile, CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 2.92% or 0.37 points to end at 13.02 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 2.15% or 0.35 points to 16.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which fell 4.11% or 1.02 points to trade at 23.80 at the close. Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) declined 3.98% or 1.93 points to end at 46.57 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was down 3.90% or 1.12 points to 27.57.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 231 to 183 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.92% or 0.37 to 13.02.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.93% to 35.35.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.49% or 6.20 to $1247.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.82% or 0.85 to hit $47.45 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.51% or 1.50 to trade at $100.90 .
USD/BRL was down 0.36% to 3.8984, while EUR/BRL fell 0.24% to 4.4341.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.470.
