Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 5.39% or 0.82 points to trade at 16.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 4.08% or 0.70 points to end at 17.84 and Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) was up 2.94% or 0.54 points to 18.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 6.81% or 1.75 points to trade at 23.95 at the close. Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) declined 4.89% or 2.75 points to end at 53.45 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was down 3.95% or 0.70 points to 17.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 258 to 206 and 27 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.09% to 31.79.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1227.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.04% or 0.70 to hit $67.86 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.95% or 1.04 to trade at $108.08 .
USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.8444, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 4.4762.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 94.84.
