Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.05% or 1.43 points to trade at 48.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3) added 2.71% or 0.13 points to end at 4.93 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 1.74% or 0.50 points to 29.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which fell 5.47% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.70 at the close. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 5.02% or 1.23 points to end at 23.26 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) was down 3.43% or 0.81 points to 22.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 263 to 199 and 36 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.68% to 32.97.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.11% or 1.40 to $1284.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.20% or 1.19 to hit $52.85 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.86% or 1.95 to trade at $103.00 .
USD/BRL was up 1.63% to 3.8148, while EUR/BRL rose 1.61% to 4.3342.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 95.968.
