Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.91% or 0.99 points to trade at 21.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) added 4.43% or 1.93 points to end at 45.53 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) was up 4.37% or 0.88 points to 21.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (SA:ITUB4), which fell 34.20% or 18.03 points to trade at 34.69 at the close. Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) declined 4.95% or 0.80 points to end at 15.35 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 3.82% or 0.36 points to 9.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 258 to 184 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (SA:ITUB4) fell to 52-week lows; losing 34.20% or 18.03 to 34.69.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 7.31% to 36.77.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.70 to $1226.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.97% or 1.05 to hit $54.48 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.87% or 1.00 to trade at $113.90 .
USD/BRL was up 1.09% to 3.7982, while EUR/BRL rose 1.25% to 4.3253.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.618.
