Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.61% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3), which rose 8.70% or 1.08 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 4.10% or 0.54 points to end at 13.70 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 3.65% or 0.25 points to 7.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 9.91% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.00 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 4.84% or 0.73 points to end at 14.34 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 4.29% or 0.27 points to 6.03.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 169 to 125 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) fell to all time lows; falling 9.91% or 0.33 to 3.00. Shares in EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) fell to all time lows; down 4.29% or 0.27 to 6.03.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.54% to 39.48.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1116.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.00% or 0.01 to hit $42.39 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.97% or 2.77 to trade at $138.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.06% to 3.4798, while EUR/BRL fell 0.36% to 3.8551.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.83.
