Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumption, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which rose 4.85% or 0.50 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Meanwhile, BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) added 3.29% or 0.41 points to end at 12.86 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was up 3.09% or 0.43 points to 14.33 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 4.97% or 0.52 points to trade at 9.95 at the close. Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) declined 4.95% or 2.45 points to end at 47.00 and Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) was down 4.52% or 0.97 points to 20.48.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 157 to 134 and 23 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.43% to 41.43.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.11% or 14.05 to $1278.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.18% or 1.42 to hit $46.08 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.66% or 0.85 to trade at $129.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.81% to 3.4478, while EUR/BRL fell 0.35% to 3.9393.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 93.81.
