Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which rose 10.64% or 1.37 points to trade at 14.24 at the close. Meanwhile, Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) added 2.41% or 0.45 points to end at 19.10 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 2.03% or 0.45 points to 22.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 8.04% or 0.30 points to trade at 3.43 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 7.03% or 0.66 points to end at 8.73 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 6.72% or 0.260 points to 3.610.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 164 to 131 and 21 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.36% to 33.52.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.35% or 18.15 to $1327.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.77% or 1.33 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.76% or 4.06 to trade at $143.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.35% to 3.2225, while EUR/BRL fell 0.72% to 3.6296.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 94.72.
