Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3), which rose 3.27% or 1.68 points to trade at 53.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) added 3.21% or 1.86 points to end at 59.88 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 1.80% or 0.30 points to 16.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 3.63% or 0.31 points to trade at 8.24 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 3.56% or 0.20 points to end at 5.42 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) was down 2.93% or 0.26 points to 8.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 227 to 151 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) rose to all time highs; rising 3.21% or 1.86 to 59.88.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.02% to 25.94.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.55% or 19.63 to $1282.23 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.89% or 0.44 to hit $49.61 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.08% or 0.12 to trade at $142.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.1521, while EUR/BRL rose 0.82% to 3.7051.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.43.
