Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3), which rose 3.02% or 0.17 points to trade at 5.79 at the close. Meanwhile, Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) added 2.98% or 0.44 points to end at 15.20 and Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3) was up 2.41% or 1.18 points to 50.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (BVMF:SANB11), which fell 5.13% or 1.48 points to trade at 27.39 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (BVMF:TIMS3) declined 4.94% or 0.85 points to end at 16.34 and Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) was down 4.58% or 0.28 points to 5.83.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 463 to 461 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.98% or 0.44 to 15.20.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.35% to 31.10.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.04% or 28.70 to $2,784.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $67.41 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.72% or 4.35 to trade at $248.00 .
USD/BRL was up 0.88% to 5.76, while EUR/BRL rose 0.90% to 6.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.17.
