Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 8.16% or 0.16 points to trade at 2.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 6.56% or 0.36 points to end at 5.85 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 3.92% or 1.86 points to 49.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Santander Brasil SA (SA:SANB11), which fell 3.99% or 0.71 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 3.33% or 0.27 points to end at 7.84 and CETIP SA - Mercados Organizados (SA:CTIP3) was down 3.27% or 1.35 points to 39.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 148 to 140 and 32 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.01% to 51.96.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.71% or 9.00 to $1256.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $40.20 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.54% or 0.72 to trade at $133.72 .
USD/BRL was down 0.33% to 3.6178, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 4.0837.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.03.
