Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption, Real Estate and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.13% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3), which rose 5.17% or 0.15 points to trade at 3.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Raizen SA Preferred (BVMF:RAIZ4) added 4.49% or 0.12 points to end at 2.79 and Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) was up 3.30% or 0.59 points to 18.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3), which fell 4.48% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.61 at the close. Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:VAMO3) declined 4.02% or 0.29 points to end at 6.93 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3) was down 3.71% or 0.13 points to 3.37.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 631 to 287 and 54 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.01% to 27.02.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.51% or 35.45 to $2,319.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.57% or 0.45 to hit $78.05 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.53% or 1.20 to trade at $225.55 .
USD/BRL was down 0.81% to 5.37, while EUR/BRL fell 1.25% to 5.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.81.
