Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 2.54% or 0.17 points to trade at 6.85 at the close. Meanwhile, EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 2.40% or 0.29 points to end at 12.39 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.04% or 0.22 points to 11.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 4.33% or 0.77 points to trade at 17.01 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 3.13% or 0.34 points to end at 10.51 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was down 2.63% or 0.89 points to 33.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 233 to 186 and 47 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.54% or 0.17 to 6.85. Shares in Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.04% or 0.22 to 11.02.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.29% to 31.30 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.28% or 16.90 to $1339.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.97% or 0.62 to hit $64.42 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.27% or 0.33 to trade at $122.25 .
USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.2061, while EUR/BRL rose 0.92% to 3.9044.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.01% at 90.73.
