Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 6.55% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.64% or 0.55 points to end at 21.36 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) was up 2.24% or 0.27 points to 12.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which fell 4.45% or 0.62 points to trade at 13.30 at the close. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) declined 3.28% or 1.13 points to end at 33.32 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was down 2.61% or 0.85 points to 31.67.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 188 to 148 and 35 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.14% to 33.78.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1324.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.37 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.64% or 0.92 to trade at $145.30 .
USD/BRL was up 1.13% to 3.2705, while EUR/BRL rose 0.33% to 3.6631.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.80% at 95.44.
