Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 14.93% or 1.16 points to trade at 8.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 8.87% or 1.54 points to end at 18.90 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 8.17% or 1.32 points to 17.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which fell 2.37% or 0.33 points to trade at 13.60 at the close. Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) declined 2.08% or 0.36 points to end at 16.93 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 1.86% or 0.21 points to 11.11.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 321 to 147 and 23 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.70% to 29.15.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.60 to $1295.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.44% or 0.95 to hit $64.86 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.09% or 1.34 to trade at $121.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.62% to 3.7404, while EUR/BRL fell 0.32% to 4.3743.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.03.
