Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gafisa SA (SA:GFSA3), which rose 12.45% or 0.310 points to trade at 2.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 10.43% or 2.72 points to end at 28.80 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) was up 9.79% or 9.37 points to 105.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BR Properties SA (SA:BRPR3), which fell 6.83% or 0.77 points to trade at 10.51 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 6.65% or 0.52 points to end at 7.30 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was down 2.96% or 0.50 points to 16.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 171 to 107 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.79% or 9.37 to 105.05.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.74% to 32.87.
Gold for June delivery was down 2.24% or 27.10 to $1182.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.89% or 1.10 to hit $59.69 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.35% or 1.88 to trade at $137.28 .
USD/BRL was up 1.82% to 3.0164, while EUR/BRL rose 2.70% to 3.3850.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 94.87.
