Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4), which rose 4.01% or 2.68 points to trade at 69.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC4) added 3.98% or 1.09 points to end at 28.46 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 3.60% or 0.98 points to 28.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 5.45% or 0.29 points to trade at 5.03 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 2.84% or 0.28 points to end at 9.58 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 2.81% or 0.21 points to 7.27.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 181 to 117 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.45% or 0.29 to 5.03.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.51% to 31.52.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.31% or 3.60 to $1162.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $52.81 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.08% or 1.35 to trade at $126.58 .
USD/BRL was down 1.72% to 3.1645, while EUR/BRL fell 0.70% to 3.5294.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 95.98.
