Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumption, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.48% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3), which rose 21.75% or 0.82 points to trade at 4.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) added 13.61% or 0.63 points to end at 5.26 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) was up 13.19% or 1.70 points to 14.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WEG SA (BVMF:WEGE3), which fell 2.35% or 1.25 points to trade at 52.00 at the close. Prio SA (BVMF:PRIO3) declined 2.26% or 1.11 points to end at 48.09 and Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo SABESP (BVMF:SBSP3) was down 1.39% or 1.37 points to 97.33.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 531 to 427 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 13.19% or 1.70 to 14.59.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.25% to 26.40.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.00 to $2,542.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.30% or 1.74 to hit $73.80 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.03% or 0.07 to trade at $244.03 .
USD/BRL was down 1.14% to 5.41, while EUR/BRL fell 0.49% to 6.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 101.73.
