Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Financials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3), which rose 6.22% or 0.27 points to trade at 4.61 at the close. Meanwhile, MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) added 5.94% or 0.41 points to end at 7.31 and Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) was up 4.97% or 0.09 points to 1.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which fell 4.12% or 0.77 points to trade at 17.90 at the close. Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo SABESP (BVMF:SBSP3) declined 0.88% or 0.69 points to end at 77.32 and Alpargatas SA (BVMF:ALPA4) was down 0.52% or 0.05 points to 9.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 514 to 412 and 61 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.32% to 27.59.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.71% or 16.80 to $2,392.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.97% or 1.46 to hit $75.53 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.55% or 1.28 to trade at $233.23 .
USD/BRL was down 0.85% to 5.25, while EUR/BRL fell 0.76% to 5.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.07.
