Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 6.47% or 2.90 points to trade at 47.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) added 6.00% or 1.07 points to end at 18.89 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 4.36% or 0.77 points to 18.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which fell 2.08% or 0.29 points to trade at 13.63 at the close. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 1.60% or 0.60 points to end at 36.84 and TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) was down 1.51% or 0.32 points to 20.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 207 to 174 and 43 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.83% to 34.42.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.14% or 1.80 to $1266.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.97% or 1.71 to hit $55.91 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 1.25 to trade at $126.03 .
USD/BRL was down 0.19% to 3.2352, while EUR/BRL fell 0.47% to 3.8156.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 93.53.
