Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.95% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3), which rose 8.86% or 3.49 points to trade at 42.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (BVMF:PETR4) added 7.24% or 2.67 points to end at 39.56 and Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) was up 3.95% or 1.16 points to 30.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3), which fell 7.56% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.08 at the close. RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (BVMF:RAIL3) declined 3.09% or 0.73 points to end at 22.88 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) was down 2.57% or 0.35 points to 13.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 508 to 448 and 61 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 17.09% to 26.24.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 8.35 to $2,554.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.01% or 2.25 to hit $77.08 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.79% or 6.78 to trade at $249.68 .
USD/BRL was up 0.25% to 5.50, while EUR/BRL fell 1.37% to 6.13.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 100.77.
