Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.70% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3), which rose 6.84% or 5.57 points to trade at 86.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 4.58% or 1.28 points to end at 29.23 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 4.23% or 1.01 points to 24.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which fell 8.33% or 2.58 points to trade at 28.40 at the close. Itausa - Investimentos Itau SA (SA:ITSA4) declined 5.22% or 0.75 points to end at 13.63 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was down 2.62% or 0.80 points to 29.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 224 to 199 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) rose to all time highs; rising 6.84% or 5.57 to 86.99. Shares in BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) fell to 5-year lows; losing 8.33% or 2.58 to 28.40. Shares in Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.58% or 1.28 to 29.23. Shares in Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.23% or 1.01 to 24.90.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.74% to 27.52.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.14% or 1.90 to $1330.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.24% or 0.78 to hit $63.55 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.12% or 0.15 to trade at $120.97 .
USD/BRL was down 0.37% to 3.2381, while EUR/BRL fell 0.67% to 3.9805.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 89.80.
