Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.51% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which rose 4.06% or 0.82 points to trade at 21.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 3.16% or 0.72 points to end at 23.50 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 2.57% or 0.27 points to 10.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which fell 1.45% or 0.35 points to trade at 23.75 at the close. Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) declined 1.03% or 0.52 points to end at 49.84 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was down 1.00% or 0.15 points to 14.82.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 228 to 129 and 44 ended unchanged.
Shares in Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.16% or 0.72 to 23.50.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.55% to 31.38 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 5.60 to $1340.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.79% or 0.51 to hit $64.81 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.27% or 0.33 to trade at $122.25 .
USD/BRL was up 0.32% to 3.2160, while EUR/BRL rose 0.95% to 3.9449.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 90.13.
