Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.18% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which rose 18.82% or 2.39 points to trade at 15.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 8.29% or 0.18 points to end at 2.35 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 4.81% or 0.47 points to 10.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 3.14% or 0.95 points to trade at 29.30 at the close. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 3.09% or 1.08 points to end at 33.82 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 2.63% or 0.47 points to 17.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 186 to 139 and 17 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.52% to 34.24 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.75 to $1335.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.03% or 0.47 to hit $46.15 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 3.36% or 5.12 to trade at $147.45 .
USD/BRL was up 0.95% to 3.2835, while EUR/BRL rose 0.25% to 3.6257.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.63.
