Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF:RECV3), which rose 4.91% or 0.88 points to trade at 18.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) added 4.19% or 1.33 points to end at 33.09 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:USIM5) was up 3.81% or 0.28 points to 7.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which fell 3.72% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.76 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) declined 3.64% or 0.25 points to end at 6.61 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) was down 3.52% or 0.39 points to 10.69.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 471 to 464 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.72% or 0.30 to 7.76.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.02% to 27.72.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.09% or 25.50 to $2,372.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.76% or 0.61 to hit $81.32 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.41% or 3.20 to trade at $229.45 .
USD/BRL was up 0.35% to 5.46, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.01% to 5.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 105.31.
