Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 5.81% or 0.90 points to trade at 16.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 4.04% or 0.20 points to end at 5.15 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 3.82% or 0.88 points to 23.91 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which fell 7.20% or 1.23 points to trade at 15.85 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 5.53% or 0.41 points to end at 7.00 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was down 5.16% or 1.07 points to 19.68.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 222 to 157 and 28 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.18% to 31.64.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 6.72 to $1271.38 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.18% or 1.19 to hit $55.73 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.91% or 2.41 to trade at $123.97 .
USD/BRL was up 1.42% to 3.3144, while EUR/BRL rose 0.96% to 3.8472.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 94.83.
