Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, A-REITs and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Xero Ltd (AX:XRO), which rose 3.10% or 1.520 points to trade at 50.520 at the close. Meanwhile, Lynas Corporation Ltd (AX:LYC) added 2.19% or 0.035 points to end at 1.630 and Eclipx Group Ltd (AX:ECX) was up 2.14% or 0.055 points to 2.625 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nufarm Ltd (AX:NUF), which fell 8.22% or 0.542 points to trade at 6.050 at the close. Australian Pharma Industries Ltd (AX:API) declined 3.91% or 0.068 points to end at 1.657 and Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (AX:APT) was down 2.79% or 0.500 points to 17.450.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 575 to 508 and 363 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nufarm Ltd (AX:NUF) fell to 3-years lows; losing 8.22% or 0.542 to 6.050.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.96% to 11.389.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 3.90 to $1192.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.37% or 0.27 to hit $73.52 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.49 to trade at $83.22 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.19% to 0.7208, while AUD/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 82.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.88.
