Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Gold sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Appen Ltd (ASX:APX), which rose 16.07% or 0.05 points to trade at 0.33 at the close. Meanwhile, JB Hi-Fi Ltd (ASX:JBH) added 7.34% or 4.15 points to end at 60.70 and Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:PME) was up 4.05% or 4.32 points to 111.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU), which fell 6.09% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.70 at the close. CSL Ltd (ASX:CSL) declined 5.18% or 15.81 points to end at 289.19 and Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) was down 4.71% or 0.04 points to 0.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 680 to 507 and 324 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.09% or 0.24 to 3.70. Shares in JB Hi-Fi Ltd (ASX:JBH) rose to all time highs; rising 7.34% or 4.15 to 60.70. Shares in Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:PME) rose to all time highs; rising 4.05% or 4.32 to 111.09.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.19% to 11.21.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 1.30 to $2,037.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.23 to hit $76.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.22 to trade at $81.97 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 0.65, while AUD/JPY fell 0.04% to 97.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 103.90.
