Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the A-REITs, Healthcare and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Speedcast International Ltd (ASX:SDA), which rose 6.67% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.920 at the close. Meanwhile, Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) added 5.28% or 0.100 points to end at 1.995 and Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:CUV) was up 5.16% or 1.610 points to 32.810 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Invocare Ltd (ASX:IVC), which fell 6.48% or 1.050 points to trade at 15.150 at the close. ASX Ltd (ASX:ASX) declined 4.79% or 4.180 points to end at 83.170 and Eclipx Group Ltd (ASX:ECX) was down 2.61% or 0.040 points to 1.490.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 609 to 581 and 391 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.85% to 10.920.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.55 to $1426.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.02% or 0.57 to hit $56.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.47% or 0.92 to trade at $63.39 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.11% to 0.7034, while AUD/JPY rose 0.20% to 75.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.877.
