Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Metals & Mining, Healthcare and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Westgold Resources Ltd (ASX:WGX), which rose 12.50% or 0.25 points to trade at 2.20 at the close. Meanwhile, St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) added 6.90% or 0.01 points to end at 0.16 and Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:GOR) was up 6.73% or 0.10 points to 1.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Austal Ltd (ASX:ASB), which fell 4.66% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.95 at the close. EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML) declined 3.63% or 0.04 points to end at 0.93 and Healius Ltd (ASX:HLS) was down 3.42% or 0.04 points to 1.13.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 636 to 621 and 352 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.16% to 11.18.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.29% or 6.15 to $2,089.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.16% or 0.13 to hit $79.84 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $83.52 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 0.65, while AUD/JPY rose 0.04% to 97.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 103.80.
