Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Metals & Mining, Materials and Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN), which rose 7.54% or 0.39 points to trade at 5.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS) added 5.22% or 0.21 points to end at 4.23 and Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) was up 4.94% or 0.08 points to 1.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Invocare Ltd (ASX:IVC), which fell 7.84% or 0.95 points to trade at 11.16 at the close. South32 Ltd (ASX:S32) declined 7.42% or 0.33 points to end at 4.12 and Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) was down 4.78% or 0.06 points to 1.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 714 to 582 and 394 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.54% or 0.39 to 5.56.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.49% to 13.52.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 1.55 to $1,992.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.95% or 0.74 to hit $77.13 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.77 to trade at $80.69 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.06% to 89.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 101.51.
