Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, A-REITs and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 1.93%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV), which rose 14.04% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:CUV) added 13.46% or 1.97 points to end at 16.61 and Codan Ltd (ASX:CDA) was up 9.62% or 0.64 points to 7.29 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL), which fell 6.07% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.00 at the close. IGO Ltd (ASX:IGO) declined 3.48% or 0.38 points to end at 10.54 and Reece Ltd (ASX:REH) was down 3.10% or 0.51 points to 15.93.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 944 to 486 and 382 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) fell to all time lows; losing 6.07% or 0.07 to 1.00. Shares in Reece Ltd (ASX:REH) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.10% or 0.51 to 15.93.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.07% to 18.49.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1,824.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.43% or 0.46 to hit $106.59 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.73 to trade at $108.18 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.66% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY rose 1.05% to 88.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 104.61.
