Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Energy and A-REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 1.88%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB), which rose 7.01% or 0.270 points to trade at 4.120 at the close. Meanwhile, Aristocrat Leisure Ltd (ASX:ALL) added 6.98% or 1.800 points to end at 27.600 and Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) was up 6.47% or 4.30 points to 70.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW), which fell 3.05% or 0.11 points to trade at 3.50 at the close. Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:EVN) declined 2.80% or 0.17 points to end at 5.90 and Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:GOR) was down 2.63% or 0.050 points to 1.850.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 771 to 424 and 374 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 6.26% to 20.038.
Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.13% or 2.65 to $1977.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.15% or 0.06 to hit $40.95 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.09 to trade at $44.06 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.20% to 0.7137, while AUD/JPY rose 0.32% to 75.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.438.
