Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, IT and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Collins Foods Ltd (ASX:CKF), which rose 12.68% or 1.06 points to trade at 9.42 at the close. Meanwhile, NRW Holdings Ltd (ASX:NWH) added 10.03% or 0.17 points to end at 1.86 and Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) was up 7.19% or 4.09 points to 60.99 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:SKC), which fell 4.49% or 0.10 points to trade at 2.23 at the close. Abacus Property Group (ASX:ABP) declined 3.25% or 0.09 points to end at 2.68 and Jumbo Interactive Ltd (ASX:JIN) was down 3.23% or 0.32 points to 9.58.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 831 to 469 and 373 ended unchanged.
Shares in Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) rose to all time highs; up 7.19% or 4.09 to 60.99.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 13.01% to 19.866.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.37% or 6.65 to $1787.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.71% or 0.28 to hit $39.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.22 to trade at $41.63 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.17% to 0.6853, while AUD/JPY fell 0.05% to 73.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 97.672.
