Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the A-REITs, Energy and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.23% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW), which rose 9.29% or 0.34 points to trade at 4.00 at the close. Meanwhile, News Corp B DRC (ASX:NWS) added 3.88% or 0.88 points to end at 23.58 and Graincorp Ltd (ASX:GNC) was up 3.25% or 0.14 points to 4.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:SKC), which fell 4.05% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.84 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) declined 2.63% or 0.080 points to end at 2.960 and AusNet Services Ltd (ASX:AST) was down 2.25% or 0.045 points to 1.955.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 711 to 224 and 351 ended unchanged.
Shares in News Corp B DRC (ASX:NWS) rose to all time highs; rising 3.88% or 0.88 to 23.58.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 19.897.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.10 to $1887.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.42% or 0.57 to hit $40.70 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.15% or 0.49 to trade at $43.27 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.23% to 0.7285, while AUD/JPY rose 0.32% to 76.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 92.578.
