Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Telecoms Services and A-REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Star Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:SGR), which rose 14.22% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) added 6.45% or 0.03 points to end at 0.50 and Nufarm Ltd (ASX:NUF) was up 5.41% or 0.24 points to 4.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU), which fell 5.81% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.84 at the close. Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) declined 4.89% or 0.06 points to end at 1.07 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) was down 2.38% or 0.01 points to 0.21.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 622 to 470 and 450 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.31% to 12.14.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 9.75 to $2,437.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.57% or 0.44 to hit $77.60 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.48 to trade at $80.76 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY fell 0.17% to 100.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 103.99.
