Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Consumer Discretionary and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN), which rose 32.65% or 1.600 points to trade at 6.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) added 7.79% or 1.870 points to end at 25.870 and Bravura Solutions Ltd (ASX:BVS) was up 6.67% or 0.300 points to 4.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Speedcast International Ltd (ASX:SDA), which fell 32.94% or 0.555 points to trade at 1.130 at the close. Inghams Group Ltd (ASX:ING) declined 17.08% or 0.69 points to end at 3.35 and Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:ILU) was down 9.69% or 0.730 points to 6.800.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 686 to 469 and 367 ended unchanged.

Shares in Inghams Group Ltd (ASX:ING) fell to 52-week lows; falling 17.08% or 0.69 to 3.35. Shares in Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:ILU) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.69% or 0.730 to 6.800.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 7.18% to 15.943.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 4.15 to $1541.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.54% or 0.29 to hit $53.93 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.33 to trade at $58.45 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.27% to 0.6755, while AUD/JPY fell 0.67% to 71.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 97.882.
