Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Financials and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV), which rose 11.82% or 0.205 points to trade at 1.940 at the close. Meanwhile, Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX:GXY) added 9.88% or 0.085 points to end at 0.945 and Lynas Corporation Ltd (ASX:LYC) was up 8.86% or 0.210 points to 2.580 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:SLR), which fell 9.20% or 0.115 points to trade at 1.135 at the close. Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:EVN) declined 7.83% or 0.300 points to end at 3.530 and Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:GOR) was down 7.02% or 0.085 points to 1.125.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 667 to 448 and 315 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 7.98% to 11.858.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.10% or 1.45 to $1470.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.34 to hit $59.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.44 to trade at $64.64 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.24% to 0.6925, while AUD/JPY rose 0.51% to 75.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 96.822.
