Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Metals & Mining and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Seven Group Holdings Ltd (AX:SVW), which rose 8.73% or 1.030 points to trade at 12.830 at the close. Meanwhile, Bluescope Steel Ltd (AX:BSL) added 5.35% or 0.590 points to end at 11.620 and Monadelphous Group Ltd (AX:MND) was up 4.80% or 0.660 points to 14.420 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX), which fell 8.91% or 0.410 points to trade at 4.190 at the close. Corporate Travel Managment Ltd (AX:CTD) declined 5.97% or 1.380 points to end at 21.720 and Vocus Group Ltd (AX:VOC) was down 5.64% or 0.155 points to 2.595.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 660 to 487 and 376 ended unchanged.
Shares in Seven Group Holdings Ltd (AX:SVW) rose to all time highs; up 8.73% or 1.030 to 12.830.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 8.59% to 13.552.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.37 to $1293.33 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.42% or 0.20 to hit $47.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.19 to trade at $51.85 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 0.7938, while AUD/JPY rose 0.27% to 86.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.13.
