Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, A-REITs and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bapcor Ltd (ASX:BAP), which rose 6.83% or 0.36 points to trade at 5.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Alumina Ltd (ASX:AWC) added 4.02% or 0.05 points to end at 1.16 and Cromwell Property Group (ASX:CMW) was up 3.85% or 0.02 points to 0.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:GOR), which fell 18.13% or 0.31 points to trade at 1.40 at the close. G8 Education Ltd (ASX:GEM) declined 5.07% or 0.06 points to end at 1.03 and Insignia Financial Ltd (ASX:IFL) was down 3.88% or 0.09 points to 2.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 682 to 569 and 365 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 6.30% to 11.11.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.33% or 6.75 to $2,042.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.51% or 0.40 to hit $78.41 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.42 to trade at $83.37 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY rose 0.21% to 97.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 103.34.
