Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Gold, Energy and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS), which rose 7.32% or 0.150 points to trade at 2.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:SLR) added 5.38% or 0.070 points to end at 1.370 and Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:LYC) was up 5.35% or 0.380 points to 7.480 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL), which fell 4.51% or 0.17 points to trade at 3.60 at the close. Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) declined 3.45% or 0.015 points to end at 0.420 and Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW) was down 3.10% or 0.17 points to 5.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 710 to 671 and 414 ended unchanged.
Shares in Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.45% or 0.015 to 0.420.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.29% to 11.738.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.45 to $1791.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.56% or 0.39 to hit $70.11 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.33 to trade at $73.25 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.06% to 0.7351, while AUD/JPY rose 0.09% to 80.92.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 92.843.
