Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Telecoms Services and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Credit Corp Group Ltd (AX:CCP), which rose 8.12% or 1.540 points to trade at 20.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Syrah Resources Ltd (AX:SYR) added 3.24% or 0.095 points to end at 3.025 and Janus Henderson Group PLC DRC (AX:JHG) was up 2.93% or 1.240 points to 43.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Regis Resources Ltd (AX:RRL), which fell 10.80% or 0.540 points to trade at 4.460 at the close. Wisetech Global Ltd (AX:WTC) declined 7.58% or 1.255 points to end at 15.305 and Carsales.Com Ltd (AX:CAR) was down 5.05% or 0.725 points to 13.625.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 652 to 588 and 356 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.44% to 11.778 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1220.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.41% or 0.29 to hit $69.84 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.24 to trade at $75.31 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.31% to 0.7430, while AUD/JPY rose 0.50% to 82.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 94.16.
